About TTA

The freight distribution business is a highly public industry that supports our daily lives, industry and the economy, as well as various other activities of society. Truck deliveries account for much of the domestic freight transportation in Japan. Against this background, improved freight transportation services for the shipper industry community as well as for Tokyo residents and service users are sought from commercial truck operators, which fulfill a central role in freight distribution. A key task of the industry will be to increase freight distribution efficiency and informatization. Furthermore, trucks play an important social role in transporting relief supplies in times of emergencies, including natural disasters, such as major earthquakes, windstorms/flooding, and volcanic eruptions. The trucking industry must be prepared to carry out these activities. Meanwhile, the trucking industry is deeply linked with traffic accidents and environmental issues, and is expected to make consistent efforts to address these issues.
Relying only on individual businesses to tackle these issues is not, however, anticipated to yield sufficient outcomes. It is incumbent that the Tokyo Trucking Association (TTA) endeavors to communicate with relevant organizations, integrates the opinions of the industry to provide a single voice, and demonstrates appropriate leadership and initiative.
TTA actively undertakes various activities to contribute to the development of TTA’s member businesses, and to develop the trucking industry by achieving “harmony with society,” including service-enhancing measures for Tokyo residents and service users, traffic safety initiatives, and environmental initiatives. Furthermore, as a government-designated organization for promoting proper trucking safety practices in Tokyo, TTA implements programs for preventing driving habits that hinder freight transportation safety and more.
In addition, TTA carries out an array of other activities, including education and training programs and efforts to secure human resources through the Tokyo Trucking Business Professional Development Foundation. It also advances social welfare activities through the Tokyo Foundation for Children Orphaned from Truck Accidents.
